Maine State Police to escort Herrmann’s Lipizzan Stallions

Herrmann’s world famous Lipizzan Stallions will be passing through Newport Monday, August 28 with a Maine State Police escort, on their way to East Ridge Stable in Charleston.where they will be performing shows over Labor Day Weekend.

The event is going to feature 4 shows. The first show will be on September 1 at 7:00 pm, followed by shows on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at 3:00 pm.

The proceeds from the show will go to Lawrence Farm Equine Shelter in Athens. LFES takes in “abused, neglected, starved and surrendered horses, ponies, and donkeys. Within the State of Maine.”

Lawrence Farm Equine Shelter owner Tracy Lawrence tells me this escort will be for the safety of the horses.

If you happen to be in the area, it should make for a pretty interesting, albeit small parade, slightly reminiscent of the old circus parades from back in the day!

Be warned that anybody attempting to pass the procession will be cited!

Please visit my previous blog for complete details on what is going to be a great event and a wonderful way to end the summer with the horse lovers in your family!

About Doug Alley

I grew up in Bath, Maine in an upper lower class family with 3 step sisters, a step brother, and a little sister. After high school I spent 3 years serving in the USAF at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage AK. I've competed in, and won, demolition derbies. I've competed in, and never won, stock car races. I am the 47-year-old father of an 11-year-old boy who is pretty sure he is smarter than I ever was. We live on a little less than an acre of land in a 1973 mobile home in Stetson with my wife Jen, some cats, a few chickens, and rabbits, and a couple of goats. I hunt, fish, camp out, dabble in photography, gardening, and I cook in variable degrees of near success.
