That is where we are heading folks. Think about it. If the minimum wage becomes $15 an hour, will that mean that everybody else at or below $15 gets a $7.75 raise? If so, what about the folks above it? Will they get raises?
The answer is obviously no, they wont! So what does happen to the folks already making between $27,300 and $54,600? Folks like the CNA with 25 year’s experience, or the bank teller who has been on the job for fifteen years, and hasn’t hit the $15 hourly wage? What about the retail worker at the same job for 11 years that hasn’t reached the $13 an hour mark?
Then you have the Direct Support Professional, the state employed Benefits Eligibility Specialist, and the Referral Specialist from a medical records office, that have been in their positions for so long that they are no longer eligible for raises.
Let’s not leave out the folks with degrees, and specialized training, that worked their way up the ladder while studying to reach a higher level in their career, like the VA hospital worker with a degree in medical coding who has reached just over $57 K annually in only 18 years, and the Registered Medical Assistant with 15 years on the job.
I have heard stories from folks all over the country in these positions who sit at the top of their pay grades watching folks new to the job enter the workforce for just a few dollars an hour less than the wages they have worked so hard to reach.
In a nation with a $15 hourly minimum wage, everybody in a similar situation would now be living at or near the poverty line. That would mean they are eligible for federal assistance with food, housing, medical care, and schooling. That would mean that the average American family would be able to collect Federal assistance.
When a nation’s population gets their food, housing, medical care, and schooling from the government doesn’t that make them socialists?
So maybe that isn’t so bad…BUT! What happens when the government decides how you are able to exercise your rights?
Let’s say they want to limit how you observe a holiday. I mean Columbus Day celebrates a man who many find to be an evil rapist, and murderer. Christmas celebrates the birth of the Christian Savior, and may be offensive to other non Christians. Valentine’s Day has Catholic roots.
What about religious displays, or displaying things that certain people or groups find offensive? Things like tablets of the Ten Commandments, Nazi flags, or even Confederate flags? What about manger scenes?
Offensive language or images in print, or over the airwaves. You really should watch what you say…Right? You don’t want to offend anybody. Maybe the government should keep things like that under control? Many of you already would like to see my blog go away…(But yet they still read it…)
Then there is the need to protect the innocent. People should be searched when entering a facility or event with a large gathering. People boarding airplanes need to be searched. We really should add trains, and busses too. Maybe even the mall?
And we should certainly keep access to guns as limited as possible! I mean look at what just happened in California, and Colorado! The rights of citizens to keep and bear arms should MOST DIFINATELY be infringed upon for the greater good! Right?
Do you see where we are heading now??? Is it coming into focus? Sadly, I doubt it. Just don’t blame me when it all falls apart at the seams!
