Did you get over to The Hannafid’s to get your bread, milk, water and batteries??? You best get a move on mister! First we had that tropical storm Wakeen everybody was talking about coming at us for Saturday, and now it looks like there is a hurricane by the name of Joaquin headed for us at the same time!
What with all the rain we had yesterday, and today, I’m thinking its gonna get a bit wet around here! My neighbor figures the same…He’s got an outboard hooked up on the tailgate of his old Ford. All’s I got is the old canoe, but I imagine that will get me out of the water if it gets too deep!
We was over to the Wal-Mart in Palmyra this morning. Looks like folks aint too worried jess’yet. Evidently this hurricane Joaquin jess’might make it out to sea and spare us.
I cant find any info on that Wakeen though. Maybe we got lucky, and it petered out. For all I know, all this rain we’re having right now is all that was left of it.
Anyways, I went and got the goats a bale of hay, the chickens is all seeking shelter under an old truck cap. Two of the cats are inside, likely for the duration…Molly come in the morning, filled her belly, and headed right back out. I aint too sure, but there might be something wrong with that cat, in the head! The dogs haven’t come out of the dog house since sometime yesterday afternoon.
As for the humans. We’ve got enough supplies to make it I suppose. Half a loaf of bread, about 3 quarts of milk, a few boxes of macaroni, and some stewed tomatoes. We should be good to go!
In all seriousness though. DO make sure you have what you need if the power goes out this weekend. If you have elderly neighbors, or know some folks who would appreciate a hot meal, and you have a generator, be sure to take them a pot of hot beef stew or something. We are Mainers, and we are supposed to be neighborly.
MOST IMPORTANT! If you see downed power lines, call the power company, and REMEMBER! NO LINE is safe to touch…EVAH!
