Large white ape spotted in Stetson

We had some excitement out to my place overnight. It was about 3 am when I heard a car out in front slam on its brakes, and lay on its horn. I was afraid that one of my goats hat escaped my ”goat proof” fence and had just been hit by a car! The car had come to a complete stop, and then slowly moved along, before finally speeding off.

By the time I got outside, (in my birthday suit), the car was gone, and all was quiet. I live in a pretty rural area, and I can hear cars coming at night a few miles before they get here, so I wasn’t too concerned about being naked, I was more worried about the possibility of an injured animal suffering in the middle of the road!

I could still hear the car getting further away, otherwise everything was quiet. I made my way up the driveway, and out onto the street. I looked to the left and right, and saw no evidence of blood or anything like that, so I decided I better get inside, grab some shorts, and a flash light.

Before I went back into the house, I figured I would look in on the goats to make sure they were still safely in their pen. I was just about the open their gate when I heard the phone start ringing in the house.  I turned away from the fence, and quickly went inside to answer it.

A call that late at night, and on a weekend, HAD to be related to the mysterious car, and it likely wasn’t anything good. I answered the phone, and it was my next door neighbor.

He is all out of breath, telling me to grab my shotgun quick, because it is out after my goats.

I tell him, “Slow down a second! Take it easy! WHAT is after my goats?”

He says, “I heard a car horn, and it bothered my dogs, they wouldn’t stop whining so I went to let them out, and that is when I saw a HUGE hairy white ape trying to get into your goat pen! HURRY! He’s probably still out there!”

I hung up the phone, grabbed my pants, a flashlight and the shotgun and headed out the back door that opens directly into the goat pen.

I shined the light into the pen, but all 3 goats were half asleep lying in the grass, contentedly chewing their cud. One of the dogs came out of the dog house wagged his tail, stretched, yawned, and went back in the dog house. Bruce, the yearling bull was standing in the pasture with his head down, presumably asleep. All seemed well.

The way I see it, this ape had been crossing the street heading toward my place to make a little midnight snack of my goats, but when I came out to investigate all the ruckus, I must have scared him off!

I sure would like to get in touch with the driver of that car to find out what he saw! One things for certain! I wont be going out in the yard after dark without a weapon and a light anytime soon!
